Black Life in America is the most comprehensive digital archive of primary source documents related to Black American life. This collection is sourced from more than 19,000 global media outlets, including over 400 current and historical Black publications, dating from 1704 to today. NewsBank, the database provider of Black Life in America, specializes in providing comprehensive, vetted, credible news resources to libraries around the world with 24/7 remote access. You can use the suggested searches on the homepage of Black Life in America or consult the attached document for tips on using the basic and advanced search tools.

The following hyperlink will take you directly to the Black Life in America database. If you are off campus, you will be directed to login with your P-number as your username and your 6-digit date of birth as your password.

That’s not all! There’s more to explore in the African American Studies research guide which covers history, literature, and film. It features a variety of library resources beyond news media, and it’s just a sample of what is available.

Good morning, all:

As a reminder, we have two great events on the PTC Greenwood Campus today:

  • THE POETRY SHOWCASE: 11:45AM-12:30PM in the Student Center. Moody Black (featured poet) and PTC poets will be there.
  • VISITING ARTIST LECTURE SERIES: 3:30PM-5:00PM in the Library (top floor, Building K). McCormick-native Charles Apple is today’s “visiting artist.” Learn more about his career in infographics. He is the Further Review Editor for The Spokesman-Review (Spokane, Washington).

These events are open to students, faculty, and staff. We hope you can join us.
