An “open textbook,” as defined on the Open Textbook Library website, is one that has “an open license that makes it free for anyone to use and change. It can be print or digital” (FAQ). The Open Textbook Library, as of the date of this posting, has 1093 open textbooks. Social Emotional Learning (SEL) is broadly understood as a process through which individuals build awareness and skills in managing emotions, setting goals, establishing relationships, and making responsible decisions that support success in school and in life.
Many of ISKME’s service partners have developed academic standards related to social emotional learning and, most recently, we added the Washington State Social Emotional Learning Standards to OER Commons. As resources are aligned to these standards by members of the Washington OER Hub, they will become searchable based on the alignment.
